Annual Area Activities

Txoko Ona Basque Dance

TxokThe annual Basque Dance held at the Txoko Ona Basque Center in Homedale is held on the 2nd Saturday in March each year.  In the past years, this dance had been held at the old Armory building.  It has now been held at the new Txoko Ona building on South Main Street in Homedale, and the Badiola Arena on Hwy 95.  Along with the historic and traditional dances performanced by all the age groups of Basque dancers, there are live music performances all evening.  Chorizos, hot dogs, pop, beer and wine are the usual food fare at the event.  There are also silent and live auctions going on throughout the evening as a fund raiser for the Basque Center. It's a great time to buy some homemade flan, chorizos or Basque bread!  Lots of socializing and even a game of Muse (Basque card game) or horse shoes might be found.  A great family event to which the entire community is invited!

Nightlight Christmas Parade

The Night Light Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Homedale Chamber of Commerce, is held the last weekend in November to kickoff the holiday season.  The parade is one of Homedale's signature events. The town's residents line Idaho Avenue from one end of town to the other as floats and parade entries of all types make their way through town tossing candy and goodies to the children. The most anticipated float each year is one carrying Santa Claus. After the parade, Santa hands out candy canes to the children.
